Sony Ericsson MPS 60 mobile phone speakers

Let’s take a look at the Sony Ericsson MPS-60 speakers.

These speakers have been around for a while, and offer a great way of sharing your music with friends. Compatible with all Sony Ericsson Walkman phones, the MPS-60 offer an acceptable sound quality for the size of speaker.

The setup and operation is simply plug n play, the speakers will fit onto the connector port of any Sony Ericsson handset, such as the excellent W950, and an advantage is they do not need their own power source, as they draw power from the phone. Due to the size of the speaker connector, it is not possible to have a power source connected to the phone at the same time, even using the Sony Ericsson pass-through chargers. However if you are running the phone in Walkman only mode, you can get up to 30 hours playback, so this isn’t always an issue.

Opera brings Google search to your pocket

Google is now the default search option in Opera’s industry-leading mobile browsers

Opera made Google™ the default search engine in Opera’s mobile Web browsers. Now anyone using Opera Mobile or Opera Mini can access Google’s powerful mobile search directly from the browser start page, meaning they’ll be able to quickly and easily get the information they need, whenever and wherever they need it.

Opera Mini’s ongoing success is a proof of the mobile Web’s adoption by mainstream consumers. Because Opera Mini targets featurephones that have traditionally possessed limited browsing capabilities, millions of people have made the personal choice to download and install Opera Mini to their phones. These consumers tend to use the mobile Web more frequently and actively than consumers with more static, less dynamic mobile Web browsers. Every month, Opera Mini users browse more than 1.7 billion pages, with much of that traffic generated through the search function in the browser.

Toshiba 815T PB: Transformers-Like Cellphone

Toshiba’s new Softbank 815T PB is the robot/cellphone hybrid I would’ve dreamed of if cellphones had been around when I was a kid. It’s made for an upcoming Japanese TV drama called Ketai Sousakan 7 and it really does transform, Transformers-like, into a robot toy complete with tiny bunched fists.

Even the display-face is part of the robot effect, and the phone comes with games with the same theme. It’s in silver and black, has a QVGA screen, 3.2 megapixel camera and is a 3G phone, so it might venture outside Japanese shores.

The Melbourne University-based laboratories (Australia) unveiled a new wireless technology called GiFi. This is a short range technology, effective within 10 meters. However it features impressive data transfer speeds – 5 gigabits per second, it can transmit stream video online without buffer delays. The developers have already held a demo of GiFi in action.

They introduced a 5-mm CMOS-chip that uses a one-millimeter antenna and consumes mere 2 Watt. GiFi works in 60 GHz spectrum and would have a production cost less than $10. The final GiFi version is expected in 2009 or later.
